Rogers Tinkasimire is a Master of Arts in Governance and Planning scholar on UCoBS sub-project 1. He holds a bachelor’s degree in land use planning and management and is a field research assistant at the Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation, a research institute for Mbarara University of Science and Technology based in Bwindi. He will be looking at the integration of Indigenous knowledge and practices to enhance alternative livelihoods and reduce human wild-life conflicts at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Lake Mburo National Park in southwestern Uganda. His research will help to enhance the integration of indigenous people in the management and conservation of natural resources using a bottom-up approach. He will be supervised by Dr. Medard Twinamatsiko from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Prof. Stefaan Smiss University of VUB, Belgium.
