Dr. Jane Yatuha , a senior lecturer at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), is a RUFORUM
post-doctoral fellow under the support of Carnegie Corporation of New York. The fellowship has offered her
an opportunity to be mentored in a wide spectrum of skills and capacities in research, networking , sourcing
research resources and building her capacity to ably mentor and train upcoming scientists for the continent
through supervision of master’s and PhD students.

Jane’s general research interests centre on freshwater fish species; especially wetland fishes; their diversity, distribution, threats as well as their potential to contribute to reduction of rural poverty and malnutrition through aquaculture research innovations. She has a passion for contributing to applied research initiatives that will go a long way to improve the livelihoods of rural communities.
