Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), under the MUST IUC-UCoBS Project, convened a stakeholder engagement meeting to officially kick off the eCampus Project, a pioneering initiative aimed at transforming university operations through digital innovation and workflow integration.
The meeting was spearheaded by Dr. Fred Kaggwa, the Dean in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics and Team Lead for Subproject Six under the MUST IUC-UCoBS initiative. Dr. Kaggwa highlighted that the eCampus project represents a bold step toward streamlining university operations and creating a sustainable, technology-driven academic environment.
Representing the UCoBS project management team was Ms. Lydia Asiimwe, the Project Manager, who reaffirmed UCoBS’s commitment to supporting digital transformation and sustainable systems that enhance efficiency and integration across university processes.
As a leading university of science and technology, MUST is setting the precedent to become Uganda’s first institution to significantly reduce reliance on paper-based systems. The eCampus project seeks to digitalize critical workflows across the university’s mainstream operations and project activities, improving efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in service delivery.
During the engagement, stakeholders discussed the project’s vision, scope, and roadmap, emphasizing the importance of cross-departmental collaboration in achieving a fully digital university ecosystem. The initiative aims to integrate existing workflow systems, streamline record management, and promote data-driven decision-making throughout the institution.
The first phase of the eCampus Project will focus on developing a Product Requirements Document (PRD), which will guide software developers in designing a web-based system to digitalize and interconnect university workflows.
The engagement marked the beginning of a transformative journey for MUST, one that reaffirms the university’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and digital leadership in higher education.
