In July 2024, the skies above the Rwizi catchment in South Western Uganda buzzed with the hum of innovation. A new chapter in wetland conservation began as MUST launched its ground-breaking drone campaigns, soaring over the vast stretches of Kiruhura and Isingiro districts.
The mission? To protect and preserve the fragile ecosystems of the Rwizi Macro Catchment. The wetlands, once a sanctuary for diverse wildlife and a key player in the region's water supply, have begun to show signs of strain. Encroachment, pollution, and climate change are leaving their marks, and something had to be done. The MUST team, dedicated to sustainable solutions, was ready to act.
The drones—high-tech tools of modern conservation—swooped in, offering more than just stunning aerial views. Their purpose was deeper: to capture the story of the wetlands themselves. Armed with advanced sensors and cameras, these drones provided sharp, real-time imagery that revealed the subtle changes in the landscape below.
